On Saturday afternoon, 13 April 2024 , a man killed six people in Sydney shopping hall by stabbing them by his long blade knife. He was also shot dead by Police inspector Amy Scott. Later Police authorities identified attacker by name of Joel Cauchi.
It was also informed by Police that attacker has mental health issues from teenage and his family also confirmed it. It was also added that authorities are investigating and it doesn’t look like a act of ideological or religious motivation.
Joel Cauchi Religion:
After this unfortunate incident reported , some people on Twitter start claiming that it’s because of Islam and JIHAD without providing any kind of evidence. From this, controversy regarding religion of Joel Cauchi began.
These influencer supported their claim by arguing that this shopping hall is located where majority of Jewish people live, that’s why this attacker who according to them has Anti-Jewish sentiments did this incident.
But later Police informed that this person has mental issues due to which this happened. But these Twitter influencer commented that police report raised more questions than answers.
Someone replied on Twitter:
“We have a name. His name is Joel Cauchi. This was a great experiment. Everyone was so quick to name him Muslim & Arab, but the second I said he’s Jewish the same people were asking for proof and source. Double standards at its finest. Also no longer a terrorist. Another lone”
Some were claiming that attacker is most probably Jewish because of his name and Color but they also lack proper proof.
So question is what exactly is ethnicity of Joel Cauchi?
Actually attacker surname “Cauchi” is of Maltese origin and commonly used in
Maltese communities.
According to information, majority people in Malta followed Roman Catholicism and their culture also has roots with Catholicism but there are some minor communities which follow other religions like Islam, Protestantism, and Eastern Orthodox.
So, Joel Cauchi most probably is Catholic due to his name because such name not exist in Islam. But as reported by Police attacker has mental issues which is main reason.
